Our Story
Mojave Donkey League was inspired by the profound impact that four unexpectedly tiny donkeys have had not only on our lives, but also many others.
We welcomed Geronimo, Red Wing, Wolfie, and Ghost Rider to our ranch at a time when we had no equine experience to speak of! But it wasn’t long before their infectious personalities, gentle affection, and natural love for exploring the rugged desert landscape forever changed the way we saw donkeys.
It was this revelation that led us to start Mojave Mini Donkeys, offering countless visitors the chance to hike alongside these incredible companions and discover firsthand how profoundly donkeys and people can enrich each other’s lives.
Fast forward a few years, and we can't help but feel like our donkey journey is just beginning! Thank you for joining us as we start this new chapter, from adopting our first wild burros to building a thriving local community and non-profit dedicated to helping more donkeys and burros find lives filled with purpose, companionship, and adventure.

Mojave Donkey League is a community, and we’re proud to make our ranch in Morongo Valley, California, a gathering place for that community (and their donkeys too!)
Nestled between Palm Springs and Joshua Tree National Park, our five-acre ranch borders miles of public desert trails, making it the perfect place to learn, explore, and spend time alongside donkeys. Throughout the year, we'll host educational clinics, volunteer projects, community meet-ups, fundraising events, and plenty of hands-on experiences with donkeys.
Once our first adopted wild burros are settled in, we'll begin opening the ranch for regular visits where you can meet the burros, volunteer alongside them, learn how to hike, pack and camp with donkeys, and experience firsthand what the adoption and training process can look like.
